rocks
there are many rocks
which you shape and carry
and some you leave behind
the shore is littered
with boulders to pebbles
smooth to unrefined
but deep underneath the shore
there lies a great diamond
which you must preserve
you touch a jagged edge
and cry as you bleed
so you stand back to observe
you've carried large boulders
on your back, and though some
were not to worth the weight
you still stand in disbelief
when they crack and break
and even after the pain abates
you cry and cry and cry
and your tears tarnish
into rust
castles turn to rubble
and another one
bites the dust
but the diamond deep below
twinkles restlessly
as its facets reflects your fears
your sadness turns to fury
when your diamond
shows you your tears
you turn your heart
into a diamond
to obliterate the one in hand
and before you know
what you have to done
you crumble into sand
